The eyes of the golfing world are on New York for the final day of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, but attention will then turn to a village in Co Limerick which is set to host the tournament in 2027.

A golden putter will be presented to the next hosts, Adare Manor, in New York this evening to symbolise the official handover.

The countdown will begin to the Ryder Cup 2027 when the tournament will celebrate its historic 100th anniversary.

Limerick is already getting into the swing of things.

A giant golf ball overlooks the River Shannon from the courtyard of King John’s Castle in Limerick city, and Adare is festive with every shop front festooned as it prepares to welcome golfing fans from around the world.

Construction work is well under way on a new stretch of roadway which will bypass Adare, with assurances the €150 million project will be completed in time for the Ryder Cup.

The occasion will be an economic boom for local residents, many of whom plan to rent their homes during the tournament.

The official property rental programme of the Ryder Cup encourages local residents to “make your home part of golf history by letting your property”.

There are already properties on offer in Limerick, Clare, Galway, Tipperary and Offaly.
