DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL is investigating how a small Palestinian flag came to be placed near the top of the Spire in the city centre.
The flag appeared near the top of the 120m tall sculpture on Friday.
A spokesperson for the council told The Journal that it is aware of the flag’s presence on the Spire and it is investigating how it managed to be placed there.
It is also examining how the council should work to remove the flag.
🇵🇸 There’s the Palestinian flag flying high on the Spire today! As well as being great solidarity, this is some feat of acrobatics or ingenuity, or both! The streets are with Palestine! #FreePalestine 🇵🇸 pic.twitter.com/xiDUsAg6qp

No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the placing of the flag on the sculpture. The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign described its placing “being great solidarity” and “some feat of acrobatics or ingenuity, or both!”
