Chaos erupted in a north Dublin suburb over the weekend after joyriders blocked off a main road to wreck cars.

The shocking scenes took place on the Priorswood Road in Darndale on Sunday afternoon. Video footage seen by Dublin Live showed a section of the road blocked off by debris while two hatchback cars speed along.

One of the cars, with its rear bumper barely hanging on, is seen to crash into a chicane placed on the road to slow down traffic. The other car can be seen mounting the footpath and driving along the grassbank beside the road, before the two cars begin to do handbrake turns.

A white Audi car tries to drive past the joyriders, but is forced to stop as the two cars block the Audi’s path. More footage of the road later in the day shows a hatchback car in flames in the same area that was previously being used by the joyriders, while another video shows a small hatchback car being driven over grass and into the front garden wall of a local home.

Dublin Live have contacted An Garda Siochana about the incidents.
