Met Eireann have forecast miserable conditions in the coming days with widespread rain and gusty wind to hit.

Today will be dull and misty with hill fog. There will be scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle during the morning and early afternoon, then more persistent rain will spread across the country from the west during the late afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees are forecast with light to moderate southerly winds, freshening in the west during the afternoon.

Tonight will be cloudy with mist and hill fog. It will be wet at first with widespread rain but the rain will move northwards, becoming lighter and patchier by morning. Lowest temperatures won’t fall below 13 to 15 degrees, in a moderate to fresh southerly breeze.

It’s expected to be rather cloudy tomorrow but dry for most with scattered outbreaks of rain, most frequent in the west and north. Some brighter intervals possible, most likely towards the east. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 or 19 degrees are forecast with a moderate to fresh southerly breeze.

Here is Met Eireann’s national outlook for the coming days:

Overview

“Becoming rather unsettled as we move through the week. Rain will become more widespread with breezy or windy conditions developing too.”

Wednesday night

“Continuing cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain spreading eastwards across the country. Mild with temperatures not falling below 13 to 15 degrees, in a moderate to fresh southerly breeze.”

Thursday

“A rather wet and breezy day with widespread persistent rain, heaviest in the southwest and west. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees with a fresh southerly wind.”

Thursday night

“Rain will clear eastwards early on Thursday night and it’ll become mainly dry with clear spells for a time. However, more cloud will extend across the country from the southwest later in the night, bringing rain to the west and southwest by morning. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with light to moderate west to southwest winds, becoming southerly.”

Friday

“Current indications suggest Friday will be a wet and windy day with widespread rain, heavy at times, accompanied by strong and gusty southerly winds. Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees.”

The weekend

“It will continue breezy while turning cooler but generally drier for the weekend, although some showers are likely, especially in the north and west.”
