GARDAÍ ARE TREATING the deaths of a father and daughter in Dublin over the weekend as a murder-suicide.

Shortly before 8pm on Saturday night, gardaí and emergency services were called to a home in the Heathfield estate in the Cappagh area of Finglas.

The bodies of two people, a young girl and a man, were discovered at the residence.

They have been named locally as Krzysztof Daczkowski (50) and his daughter Julia Daczkowsa (5).

It’s understood that the mother of the young girl came home and made the shocking discovery.

Ballymun-Finglas councillor Conor Reddy described the incident as “tragic for the community” and added that the “neighbourhood is shocked to its core”.

Yesterday, there was a large garda presence outside the property within the Heathfield estate, including plain-clothed detectives and forensic officers.

One officer was spotted carrying large bolt cutters into the house, as various bags were removed by forensics.

A garda spokesperson today said that post-mortem examinations in the case are ongoing.
