THIS MORNING ON The Journal, our readers shared their experiences of commuting by train – with many describing issues such as overcrowding and standing for extended periods.

Figures from the National Transport Authority (NTA) show that Irish Rail services carried a record 55 million passengers last year.

However, access to rail services varies across the country. There are no active train stations in Donegal and many rural areas either lack a nearby station or have infrequent services.

With that in mind, we’re asking: Do you commute by train?

Poll Results:

No, I don’t have the option (2568)

Yes, regularly (2238)

Sometimes (1380)

No, I have the option but choose not to (797)
