Ethan Hawke & Richard Linklater talk to Aedín Gormley about their new movie Blue Moon, shooting the movie in Ireland and the magical songs co-written by its subject, composer Lorenz Hart – listen above, and watch on YouTube here.
Set on the evening of March 31, 1943, in Blue Moon legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart (Hawke) confronts his shattered self-confidence in New York’s legendary Sardi’s bar as his former collaborator Richard Rodgers celebrates the opening night of his ground-breaking hit musical “Oklahoma!”. It’s a compelling chamber piece with an awards-callibre performance from Hawke, working with filmmaker Linklater for the ninth time after such iconic collaborations as their Before trilogy and the Oscar-winning Boyhood.
Filmed in Dublin, Ethan Hawke is joined by a cast that includes Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Scott and Aedin’s lyric fm colleague Simon Delaney.
